Introducing the Institute for Black Male Achievement

A year ago this month, the seed that would become The Leadership and Sustainability Institute for Black Male Achievement (LSI) was planted at the Campaign for Black Male Achievement's Innovation and Impact Forum.

Today, that seed has grown into a network of 1,800 individuals representing 1,200 organizations.

This morning, we unveiled a new name for the LSI, The Institute for Black Male Achievement, and launched a new website, which we believe captures the breadth of the BMA field and the unwavering commitment of this network to improving the life outcomes of black men and boys.

Connection Is the Cornerstone of Change
Our hope is that the new site will become a digital anchor for the field that reflects the vision of IBMA to foster the growth, sustainability, and impact of black male achievement leaders and organizations.

The IBMA site was designed to promote exchanges of learning and collaboration within the black male achievement field. We hope you will take the time to explore the site and visit frequently for up-to-date information about the latest happenings in the black male achievement universe as well as resources to strengthen your organizational capacity and increase your impact for change.

Also, please join us for a Twitter Party @bmachievement on Tuesday, October 22, 2:30-3:30 Eastern. We will use the launch of the site as a springboard for celebrating black male achievement and discussing new movements and the momentum for change within our field.

And, if you haven't already, we encourage you to join us @bmachievement this month as we celebrate Black Male Achievement Month on Twitter #bmaoct.

In Gratitude,
The Institute for Black Male Achievement Team

The Institute for Black Male Achievement is a national membership network that seeks to ensure the growth, sustainability, and impact of leaders and organizations committed to improving the life outcomes of black men and boys through systemic change.

Public Policy for Social Enterprise
A Live Webinar Event
Free For SEA Members, Just $10 For Non-Members
Wednesday, October 30th
11:00 PDT / 12:00 MDT / 1:00 CDT / 2:00 EDT

Join us for an interactive conversation with the American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC) about how you can effectively participate in the policy process - be it at the local, state or federal level.

This introductory webinar will focus on learning the rules or ABC's of the policy world - formal and informal - and how your company or organization can help shape the outcome of legislative and regulatory decisions that matter to your constituents.

As social enterprises grow in importance, it's critical that they begin to play a more active role in ensuring that tax, investment, and economic development policies reflect their values and priorities. This webinar will present several case studies of how social enterprises have affected the policy process, and offer insights into how to interact with your elected representative and other government officials. We'll also focus on strategies for mobilizing your constituencies and making sure the media knows about your views on important issues.
