CITY EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANTS

The City of Topeka has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) dated Monday, May 23, 2011 for applicants wishing to receive City Emergency Shelter Grant (CESG) funds. These funds are intended to improve the quality of emergency shelters and the services offered to homeless individuals and families in Topeka.  The City estimates that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will allocate approximately $87,000 in Emergency Shelter Grant funds to the City for the 2011 grant year. These funds are divided into four components: Shelter Rehabilitation, Shelter Operations, Essential Services and Homeless Prevention.  All non-profit organizations that provide services related to these four components are encouraged to apply.
 

Beginning Monday, May 23, 2011, RFP and applications are available in hard copy or by email from the Department of Housing & Neighborhood Development (HND), 620 S.E. Madison, 1st Floor – UNIT 8, Topeka, Kansas, 66607. Email versions may be requested in writing to Rachelle Vega-Retana at HND or to rvretana@Topeka.org. Forms will be available on an applicant provided disks only to those without e-mail access.  Proposals are due by 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 to HND.
