Transportation Listening Summit on April 30 in Topeka

TRANSPORTATION - it is the number one concern of a number of people and non-profits.  In order to let the Topeka Transit know our concerns, CRC is hosting a 1-hour Listening Summit on April 30, at 1:30 p.m. - it will start at 1:30 p.m. and end at 2:30 p.m.  Participation will determine location.  Janlyn Nesbett-Tucker, CEO, and Rodd Miller, TMTA Chair, will be present.  The press will also be notified.  Please let me know if you plan on attending.  Thank you in advance - let the communications began.

City transportation is a huge issue. Bus service is expensive and hours are limited:

Bus ticket:  Adult $2.00; Senior & Disabled $1.00; Student $1.50

Monthly bus passes:  Adult $50.00; Senior & Disabled $35.00; Student $40.00

Monday to Friday – 5:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.  NO EVENING SERVICE

Saturday – 7:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.  NO SUNDAY SERVICE

Many students are taking the city bus to get to school because school buses do not provide the service they used to (huge reductions in education).  The schools provide some bus passes but not for everyone.  I was told directly from #501 that bus passes are expensive for the school and cannot be given to everyone, not even if the family can't afford it.   Many of our probationers need to take the bus for jobs.  If you work evenings or on weekends, you're out of luck.   If you are concerned, I encourage you to attend the meeting sponsored by CRC.  RSVP so they know how many will be attending in order to choose an appropriate location.
