The Urban Outdoor Summit will bring people of various outdoors disciplines as well as advocates and friends for a day of sharing information that is pertinent to their communities and their future generations. The KC Black Expo which will be simultaneously taking place will showcase small and regional businesses to introduce to everyone who attends. Bringing all of these venues together will allow networking and a great way to develop and create new connections to help usher in a new economy to inspire our communities to grow, support entrepreneurs and become vital once again. The Urban Outdoor Summit is the only conference dedicated to the Urban Sportsman and Diversity in the Outdoors in the country.

On Friday evening Sept. 7, 2012 the Urban Outdoor Summit will start with a welcoming reception and special book signing of "A Man from Another Land: How Finding My Roots Changed My Life" by actor Isaiah Washington who is best known as Dr. Preston Burke of Grey's Anatomy fame.

On Saturday morning September 8th from 9am to 6pm there will be panels and discussions ranging from connecting our youth back with nature, careers in the outdoor industry, genealogy, wild game cooking, conservation and basic survival skills. There will be talk on Green Living, Urban Farms, Arts & Entertainment, Music and New Media.  There will also be specific panels of Scuba Divers, Skiers, Hunters, Hikers and Anglers.

Urban American Outdoors Host Wayne Hubbard will be filming and sharing info about the TV show, the new channels UAO will be on and our new youth program. Urban Soul Wild Executive Chef Kevin Kimbrough will also be on hand doing a cooking segment on the floor before a live audience.

The US Forest Service will be there to share info on their outreach and their current job opportunities throughout the country. One of our very special guests of the Summit and Expo will be Ms.Tia Norfleet the 1st and only African American Woman to be licensed by NASCAR telling her inspirational story of success and what is around the horizon for her. Also the original remaining US Buffalo Soldiers will be there to discuss their new programs they are developing for the youth.

There will also be the "Perspective Award" presentation to award outstanding individuals who advocate for the Outdoors Lifestyle and promote diversity in the outdoors industry.

Summit Organizer, Candice Price stated, "We created this Summit to bring people together who had been in love with the outdoors and had been striving to be apart and contribute to the sustainability of keeping the rhythm of nature in sync. We had traditionally been left out but a natural transition has taken place that is adjusting everything and now we all can move forward and have a good time doing it".

Modest expected attendance of the three day expo is 30,000 but could easily exceed these numbers due to the people having a renew sense of coming together looking for economic solutions. At the expo there will be movies shown, hair & fashion show, food, free health & dental screenings, outdoor vendors and plenty of family entertainment. Basically there is something for everyone and every year there will be additional levels added to grow the expo to share more info and trade so that we may all benefit.
