YWCA Highway Construction and Life Skills Management Training Program


The Topeka Y.W.C.A. is currently enrolling well qualified applicants for our Highway Construction and Life Skills Management training program.  Session III will begin on June 27, 2011, applications are currently being accepted.
 
A grant funded program; YWCA Career Assistance Network has helped women, minorities, and disadvantaged persons, find employment in the area of construction.  This program is designed to provide pre-employment, entry level training and supportive services in an effort to increase the total number of women, minorities and disadvantaged persons employed in the Federal aid highway construction industry in northeast Kansas.  Through partnerships with government, community and industry leaders, we seek to further diversify the construction industry and enhance employment opportunities for participants completing the CLSM training course.
 
To apply for admission to the Highway Construction and Life Skills Management training course, applicants must complete an application and meet the following requirements:
 
·         Proof of High School Diploma or G.E.D. completion
·         Provide evidence of legal employability in the United States, such as; Social Security Card and birth certificate.
·         Proof of a valid Kansas Driver's License
·         Ability to pass a drug screening test
·         Physically able to perform the work of highway construction
 
Attached is a copy of our Highway Construction and Life Skills Management training flyer.  If you know of any qualified applicants please feel free to print out our flyer and distribute it.  Applications can be found in two different places, the first: www.ywcatopeka.org or the second: YWCA of Topeka, 225 SW 12th Street Topeka, KS 66612, just enter through the backdoor (off of 13th street) and ask the front desk representative for a Career Assistance Network application.
